This might be Matthew McConaughey’s best performance. He lost over 30 pounds to play this role, which was that of Ron Woodruff, a man diagnosed with AIDS , who decides to start the “Dallas Buyers Club” where people can purchase non FDA approved drugs. McConaughey really knows how to show the effects of AIDS on your mental and physical state through his brilliant acting .

Joaquin Phoenix deserves an Oscar for the Joker performance. From losing 50+ pounds to play the role, to getting deep into character as a disturbed unstable human being, he has made this film the film of the year by far. I think that what really made this performance so good is the fact that everything the joker went through is all real things that people face daily. From being ridiculed relentlessly by his peers, to being beat up by a couple of punk kids, all of this is real. It makes you ask yourself, how much can a person take before reaching their breaking point? It also makes you think maybe we should be kinder to eachother. We are all human, no one is created better than another .
